From the earliest writings on cave walls, humans have lived & thrived in community.
We sat arnd fires, everyone had their roles, we knew our worth, & we sprang into action when needed. There were caregivers, story tellers, performers, fighters, hunters…
We knew our roles, we knew our worth, we connected each & every day.
It’s not new or a big epiphany to say that the modern world’s eroded that connection…that social media is further eroding it. Text msgs have replaced calls, group text chats have replaced face-to-face dinners, FaceTime has replaced flights & visits.
But what the quote from the last slide points out is so impt: we’ve created an environment that rewards individuals who are “influencers” who teach individual self-healing practices, alone.
I’m going to say something I’ve never said on this platform & I know the alg0 hates me for it, but it’s impt to be said: there’s a reason why this org is called SameHere Global & not something like “Kussin’s Corner”…there’s a reason why our American Sign Language logo w many colors on the hand, is our profile logo…& not my face. That reason is that we heal IN community better than any other way.
I have an interest, after going thru my own “stuff” of helping as many as possible not have to face my challenges, not have to lose loved ones, & find healing journeys. I dont care abt being an “influencer” & don’t care if my face is seen or my name is known. I care that a msg of community – what SM hates, is what unites us – bc it’s what WORKS.
The advertisers on this platform do not like that. They have no issue w self healing gurus talking abt what you can do on your own, isolated, bc they know that in isolation, you can only heal so much.
Connection is what heals. Knowing where we fit in is what heals. Learning we’re not alone is what heals. Telling others – same here, I’ve gone thru similar & you’re far from alone is what heals.
Just something to consider as you curate your feeds & what works for you. Modalities are aplenty out there. Many are soothing. But you’ll find greater healing in community – even if it’s online, than you will anything you do alone.
