It’s tragically ironic that on World Mental Health Day we are living through a set of global events making our world anything but mentally healthy

How terribly ironic – today is World Mental Health Day, taking place during a stretch of time when our world is far from mentally healthy.

In 2013 innocent Syrian citizens were gassed. It was right arnd the time social media was growing exponentially. Horrifically, global citizens (of all ages) were witnessing, in HD (many for the first time) in the palm of their hands, human life discarded w little thought or remorse.

Humans are not meant to experience that…not meant to SEE that happen so graphically to so many.

There are land disputes taking place all over the globe. Have been since the dawn of time. No matter what “side” you’re on, in any of them, there’s NO justification for the savagery we‘ve seen over the last few days.

This is a delicate post to have to write, but it’s needed. You have the right to HATE the govt & politics of Israel….the right to care abt the well-being of peaceful Palestinian or Israeli ppl. But there’s NO justification for the savagery we saw over the wknd from the terrorists – Hamas. It’s not “freedom fighting”- when you fly into festivals & shoot citizens…go door to door & rape women…drag grandmothers & children across the streets bloodied, decapitate ppl, shoot dogs & film it, take hostages.

We have political “leaders,” in the US & arnd the world w MASSIVE platforms who typically post daily, who’ve said NOTHING. How do you as a “leader” stay quiet abt that type of barbarism? How does ANYONE sit idly & watch this happen, let alone cheer this on?

I’ve felt it my duty, & as a result, felt strongly connected to others, when I/we as an org spoke out, when seeing atrocities happen to groups we’ve not been ‘formally’ part of. Why? When you come together against evil, there’s a magical feeling, being united & there to support others.

That politics & personal disdain are stopping ppl from condemning the recent deplorable actions is sad. Don’t think this applies to you? If it happened to “others” in their own homes & streets, it can happen to ANY of us. Unite. Stand up against hate.

Can’t think of a greater action that’ll improve global MH on World MH Day.
