I’ve been in this space since the end of 2017, after I fought out of what I call my 2.5 years of hell. At that time, I looked at the messages – ones that were meant to further normalization. They were doing anything but. They were keeping this topic on the fringe, separate.
I came/come from a perspective of thinking BECAUSE OF that very messaging when I was younger – that I was part of the “unaffected group”…that this topic didn’t apply to me. That’s WHY I’m so adamant that our messaging is way off.
That messaging in 2017, is the SAME messaging we are using now in 2023…while the trends get WORSE, not better. When you have the greatest awareness in the history of our planet, but the trends get worse, it means you have a messaging problem.
I hope this thread (albeit the exact messaging these alg0s sup&£ss), is helpful as you consider how we can better normalize this convo, as we now leave the month of May.
