Full disclosure, this is an attempt at a post, ABOUT an attempted post.
Woke up this morning, ready to share something – I’d taken yesterday off in terms of sharing, & typically don’t like go two days in a row without putting something up. Posting keeps momentum going here w you all in terms of building community & normalizing the convo, but it also helps me.
In my own way, it’s kinda like my “journaling” activity. So I thank you for reading when I post & helping me gain some clarity of thought when I just put this stuff out there, stream of conscience.
And that’s very much how the process usually goes: I’ll feel some kind of itch to share about something going on in my life, or something that I heard in the lives of others who’ve shared w me – friends, colleagues, peers looking for advice, and it spurs this idea about the human condition &/or human interaction, & I start typing away.
But this morning, for the first time in a long while (call it writer’s block maybe?), nothing was naturally coming to me. And I didn’t want to force something: ie, going to a “top quotes” page & just copying something that semi-resonated. Those never turn out well for me bc they typically don’t pertain to what’s going on in my life, so expounding on them here, becomes forced.
Ok, so a post about a post…well that’s what this is. After staring at my phone a few minutes, actively thinking about what to write, it dawned on me – why not write about how I don’t feel like I can conjure up anything productive or interesting right now. Maybe THAT will be interesting. Even if not, it’ll help me.
So here we are. My brain isn’t functioning optimally for some reason, the way it “typically” can. But if I’ve learned anything in the last 5 yrs, it’s to accept that…& the sooner I do, the sooner I get back to a level of comfort. Bc the MORE we stress about our brain being on fire/not working, the larger the fire gets. Counterintuitive for humans as we always look for active ways to escape pain/confusion.
I needed this reminder today…bc I fall into old habits. Hope the reminder helps you too if you’re needing it!
