11/4/2022 Some Of The Greatest Inspiration Comes From Being Relatable In Sharing Your Own Struggles

No one in this world has it all figured out.

I curate my feed so that I’m able to look at & read what others share – but most of what I follow is folks who are genuine/real/raw. Since we’ve been given these little boxes where we can preach from, there’s been an over-abundance of advice givers who tell us daily, the best way to live our lives.

Advice is appreciated (& it’s rewarding to share)…but advice when it comes exclusively in the form of preaching positivity, & “what we should be doing to live our best lives,” comes off (at least to me), as disingenuous.

So let me do the opposite. I’d been going for a while on a great stretch. In Sept- 17 cities in 30 days w presentations & filming the docu. Started working w some of the largest companies in the world like JPMC & Genmab. My step counts were high almost daily – I was finally getting enuf sleep/using a cpap so I wasn’t gagging for air thru this thick neck. I was tracking my trends in the Scale app & was pretty consistently in the “Gliding” phase.

Then I woke up the day of my NHL presentation in Denver last wk, & “it” hit me. That crappy feeling where immediately ya know – you’ve fallen into the hole of MH decline. Fortunately this has happened enuf times to me in my life w presentations I need to lead, it no longer paralyzes me, & I have the coping tools to get by & perform.

BUT, getting by doesn’t mean I’m not in the hole, having to dig out. I was texting w my friend @slivingstn & sharing what being in that hole is like. Here’s the best description I can give:

– When ur in a good place, each new task on your “to-do” list you check off (either in your head or actually on a list), you feel better/lighter & accomplished.

– But when you’re in the hole, each new task, as you’re even accomplishing it, you feel like you’re getting buried more. You don’t feel like you’re doing this existing task fast enuf, & you feel like each new task you haven’t gotten to, is mounting more.

The SAME action – working on a task, & yet based on where your MH is at, a completely diff way your mind views it.

I share the struggle bc we all struggle. We’re all just figuring it out.
