Imagine a world where this is normalized.
METALLICA (one of the world’s biggest and best known bands) had this happen: James Hetfield got emotional during a concert Thursday night in Brazil, admitting to the audience that he was “feeling a little bit insecure” prior to taking the stage.
Before launching into the classic METALLICA song “Sad But True” at Estádio do Mineirão in Belo Horizonte on May 12, the 58-year-old guitarist/vocalist thanked the 60,000-plus people in attendance, saying how he and his bandmates are “so blessed” to have the support of such a loyal fanbase. But then he added the line I shared above in this pic.
A world where even people on stage, in front of big audiences, could say: “I’m not OK right now” – and his/her teammates/members, and those watching, could say: “That’s OK, we got you.” And after all of it, they aren’t thought of as less than, or no longer talented – but actually strong for speaking up and being real.
This is awesome and is the world we need!
