The articles on the next 5 slides ➡️are disturbing. Very. They show major violence that’s been happening in our schools. They’re TRENDS. But you wouldn’t know it based on the coverage.
First story, a 14yr old girl in NJ is bullied & beaten, & the video shared all over social to humiliate her. The result? She dies of suicide days later.
Then, RIGHT arnd the same time, a 15yr old boy BEATS a 9yr old girl on a bus – & that too gets leaked to social.
Two school bullying/beating events w/in days. Similar ages. Both caught on camera, leaked on social to cause further pain, one ending in suicide. No coverage anywhere linking these two events together.
In the same wk violent school incidents all over NYC, in Minnesota…even a bus driver driving a bus full of kids into a daycare center, killing 2.
Yet you search: “school violence trends” & NOTHING in national media outlets shows up – tying stories like these (one population, over many states & even bordering countries), together.
No one asking why? Big picture? Wondering why this is happening at alarming rates?
Better click bait if they’re one-off train-wreck stories?
Is media blind to the fact that we have a MH crisis? That we’re the most disconnected – connected society we’ve ever been.
Showed this in Stories➡️, look at the MJ shot in the 90s vs LBJs shot the other day. Crowds full of ppl IN the moment together, showing emotion – REAL connection vs a crowd of individuals wanting to say on their socials “I was there,” w their phones out, but disconnected from each other.
Last slide, it’s why our mission will always be to bring ppl TOGETHER, in community: parents, teachers, students. We need real connections…not screen connections. Our overall MH’s taking a nose dive & we’re more disconnected bc of tech, than ever.
