This picture is of where the current continents would lie, if earth’s surface was still experiencing “Pangea,” or one large land mass we are told it looked like over 200 mill yrs ago before man inhabited it. Clearly, over time, w plate movements/shifts, the land masses moved to form what we now know as the separate continents on our globe.

It’s not far-fetched to say – as humans we don’t live close to 200 mill yrs. But – we do live long enough for major changes to happen to us – both physically & mentally.

There’s prob not a person reading this who hasn’t had the experience of looking at a pic of themselves or a loved one they see often, & reacted by saying “OMG, I/they look so different, & that was only 6 months ago.” We don’t realize the changes, often, bc we see ourselves or our loved ones every day. It’s not till we look back, that the changes become so apparent.

The same thing happens w our MH, but unfortunately we don’t look at our brains/spinal cords in the mirror or in pics. We can’t physically see the changes happen. Instead, each day, we develop a new “normal.” Yes, I hate the term normal as it pertains to describing others. So, when it comes to our own interpretation of this world & the feelings we have, let’s use the term “baseline.”

Think about how many aspects of the human psyche there are – from hobbies to love, pain to success, fear to anger, & on.  How many of us are taking stock of all of these aspects of our psyches on a daily basis, rating how we feel relative to the previous day/wk/month, etc? We don’t do it…we’d prob drive ourselves “Crazy” if we did.

All of that said, don’t do what I did. Don’t neglect the topic of MH bc you don’t think it applies to you. Guess what, it applies to us ALL! I didn’t think abt it until my new normal was so fucked up, I became dysfunctional. I went all the way from Pangea to separate continents – it took that for me to get help.

Take stock of your emotions. Look at how your enjoyment for things/energy has changed over time. Not every day – but stay on top of it. Take it from the guy who didn’t & paid the consequences.
