Took my pup Oakley (3rd pic..& closest thing I have to a child!! on a long walk on the West Side Highway yesterday). Something seemed off towards the end. He was dragging some. Figured it might be the hotter than normal weather.
Brought him to my parents to “baby sit” last nt, so I could head w some friends to the Islanders game. Then, woke up this morn, & Oakley couldn’t move :/. Usually ready to jump up at the sound of: “walk,” he seems grounded…something’s not right.
It’s Father’s Day & (full disclosure, my dad & I are beefing on a few things) he was the first one, after I called the Sunday 24/7 Vet, to volunteer to hop in the car w me, drive the 45 min, to get to the clinic.
We are waiting here, & they said it could be 2 hours before Oakley is seen. It’s his day. He doesn’t need to be here for ME/Oakley. Regardless of the circumstances: Father’s Day, our little tiff, & he’s here to help me/us. That’s what makes the world go ‘round. Close friends & fam like that.
If you have someone like that in your life, you’re lucky. If you HAD someone in your life like that, you’re lucky too. Wishing a happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there (past & present) who’ve been there for us in times like these!
And a happy one to my little brother (slide 2), who you can tell loves being a dad…& now has another on the way :).
